Ice Cream Ants is best described as a film-noir nightmare about one man's identity crisis and his confrontation with a sinister, seductive woman who may be responsible. Overall, the film unfolds as if from the main character's own subconscious mind, giving the audience the effect of a prolonged dream. The visual style of Ice Cream Ants is crucial to the emotional impact of the story, and has been carefully crafted in the development phase to reinforce the story's surreal look and Schizophrenic theme. By working with a handpicked array of professional cinematographers, set designers, and multi-media artists, the filmmakers have created a visually stunning story that creates an overall sense of nostalgia, melancholy and doom. Intricate sound design and ominous music are used to complement the visuals. The title song "Pulling Your Insides Out" has been provided by Jill Tracy, who also plays the part of Mona. Writer/director Jeremy Carr met Tracy while attending the 2004 Slamdance Film Festival where she was promoting her short film The Fine Art of Poisoning. The original score has been crafted by composer Stephen Light. Mr. Corey Boutilier of IndependentFilm.Com has shot and edited a "behind-the-scenes" documentary for the upcoming DVD release. |
